Lice

What are lice?

Lice are tiny creatures that love to latch onto your hair and feast on your blood. The most common type is head lice, but there are also body lice and pubic lice. They’re about the size of a sesame seed and can be hard to see, but once they’ve set up shop, they’ll make your scalp feel like a battleground!

How do lice spread?

It’s not about being dirty—lice can jump onto anyone’s head, especially in crowded places. They spread through head-to-head contact (like when children hug or sit close to each other) and by sharing things like hats, combs, or scarves. Body lice are a bit different—they hitch a ride on unwashed clothes. Pubic lice spread through sexual contact.

Can lice be treated completely?

  • Kill the lice with a special shampoo (pediculicide) from the pharmacy.
  • Use a fine-toothed comb to remove the eggs (nits).
  • Clean your home—wash clothes and bedding in hot water.

How do I prevent lice?

To keep lice away, don’t share personal items like combs, hats, or scarves. Keep your hair clean and avoid close contact with someone who has lice.Lice don’t stand a chance when you know how to deal with them! Take control, keep your scalp fresh, and say goodbye to the itching!
