Teaching Girls in Ghana: Periods are Natural
In Ghana’s Volta region, a project is helping to break the silence about menstruation. The group PadHer is giving health education and reusable sanitary pads to girls in schools and communities.
For many young girls, periods bring shame, fear, and missed classes. Without pads or knowledge, some girls stay home from school. This affects their learning, confidence, and future.
PadHer provides safe, washable pads that can be used many times. The group also teaches about the menstrual cycle, hygiene, and self-esteem.
Girls are learning that periods are natural and not something to hide. Parents and teachers are also involved, making the whole community more supportive.
By giving girls dignity and the chance to stay in school, PadHer is investing in Africa’s future leaders.
Sometimes a simple pad and the right information can change the direction of a girl’s life.
