What is arthritis?
Arthritis is a condition where your joints (the parts of your body where bones meet, like knees, fingers, and elbows) become swollen and painful. Over time, this can make simple tasks harder to do.
Signs of arthritis?
- Joint pain and stiffness: especially in the morning or after resting.
- Swelling joints: joints get puffy, and moving around feels tight.
- Clicking or popping: sounds in the joint when you bend it.
- Limited movement: you might not be able to stretch your fingers or walk as easily.
Rheumatoid arthritis is a bit more intense, with fatigue, fever, and pain in both sides of the body.

What causes arthritis?
- Wear and tear: our bodies wear out as we get older, especially after 50.
- Injuries: a bad fall or accident can weaken joints.
- Obesity: extra weight puts pressure on joints, especially knees.
- Genetics: if your parents had arthritis, you might get it too.
Risk factors?
- Age (mostly people over 50)
- Being overweight
- Family history
- Gender (women tend to get more types of arthritis)
- Smokers
