What is cancer? 

Cancer isn’t just one disease; it’s a group of diseases that can affect any part of your body. They grow too much and don’t stop, forming what we call tumors. Some tumors stay harmless, but others can spread to other parts of your body. This spreading is what we call metastasis, and that’s the real danger.

What causes cancer? 

  • Smoking 
  • Too much alcohol 
  • Unhealthy food 
  • Too much sun exposure
  • Certain viruses and infections (HPV, hepatitis, and others)

How do you know if you have cancer? 

  • A lump or swelling anywhere in your body
  • Sudden weight loss (and you’re not even trying!)
  • Unexplained fever
  • Constant tiredness
  • Night sweats
  • Changes in digestion or appetite

Myths About Cancer?

  • Only rich people get cancer
  • Cancer is a death sentence. Not true! Early detection and treatment save lives. 
  • Herbs alone can cure cancer. Traditional medicine is great, but medical treatment is needed too.

Can you prevent cancer? 

  • Quit smoking
  • Eat more fruits and vegetables
  • Stay active 
  • Cut down on alcohol
  • Get vaccinated (HPV and hepatitis vaccines) Early detection saves lives?
  • Breast cancer: Women should do regular self-checks and get mammograms.
  • Cervical cancer: Get a Pap smear and HPV vaccine.
  • Prostate cancer: Men over 40 should get screened.

How is cancer treated?

  • Surgery: Removing the cancerous growth.
  • Chemotherapy: Special drugs that fight cancer.
  • Immunotherapy: Boosting your immune system to fight cancer.
