What is constipation?

Constipation is when you find it hard and dry to pass stool, or you don’t go as often as you should (less than three times a week).

Symptoms of constipation?

If you’re feeling:

  • Hard stools 
  • Straining when going to the toilet
  • Fullness even after you’ve gone Then, you might be dealing with constipation. And if you notice blood, pain, or vomiting, don’t hesitate to get help from a doctor.

Causes of constipation?

  • Low fiber diet (too much rice, kenkey, meat, and not enough veggies).
  • Not enough water
  • Holding it in (if you keep postponing bathroom time, your body will get confused).
  • Stress & lifestyle changes (traveling, pregnancy, aging, or medication).

How constipation is treated?

  • Eat more fiber. Enjoy fruits like pawpaw, oranges, and bananas. Add beans and whole grains.
  • Drink more water. At least 5-6 sachets daily. Coconut water is a great bonus!
  • Move your body. Try walking, dancing. It helps digestion.
  • Answer nature’s call! Don’t hold it in when you feel the urge.
  • If needed, laxatives and herbal remedies can give relief, but don’t overdo it.

When to seek help?

If you have severe pain, notice blood in your stool, or your constipation is lasting too long, it’s time to see the doctor. It could be something more serious, but don’t worry—there’s always a solution.
