Female Reproductive System
What is the Female Reproductive System?
It’s the system that helps women reproduce (have babies) and affects a lot of other health stuff, like bones, heart, and even mood. The key organs involved are the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, and vagina. They all play their part in the baby-making process.
Key Parts of the Female Reproductive System?
- Ovaries: These small organs (about the size of grapes) are the “factories” that produce eggs and hormones. These eggs are released once a month, a process called ovulation. The ovaries also produce hormones like estrogen, which keeps your bones, heart, and mood in check.
- Fallopian Tubes: These are the pathways that carry eggs from the ovaries to the uterus. If sperm’s around, that’s where fertilization happens!
- Uterus (Womb): Is where a fertilized egg turns into a baby. If there’s no baby, the uterus sheds its lining, causing your period.
- Cervix & Vagina: The cervix produces mucus to protect you from bacteria, and the vagina is the entrance/exit for menstrual blood, babies.
- Clitoris: This is the sensitive, feel-good part of the body that plays a key role in sexual pleasure.
- Vulva: The outside parts of our body, including the labia (the lips), clitoris, and the entrance to the vagina.
