Menopause

Why does menopause occur?

Menopause happens because the ovaries age, causing a drop in the hormones needed for menstruation and pregnancy.

What’s early menopause?

It typically starts in the late 40s or early 50s, but every woman’s journey is unique. Before menopause, there’s a transition period called perimenopause, where symptoms like missed periods, hot flashes, and mood swings can begin.

What are the symptoms of menopause?

Not every woman’s experience is the same. Here’s what might happen:

  • Hot flashes
  • Night sweats
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Weight gain
  • Joint pain and skin dryness

Other things like feeling forgetful, anxiety, and low libido may happen too. Some women even feel a little blue or moody.

What is the treatment of menopause?

If you’re lucky, you won’t need meds, but for some, hormone therapy works wonders to calm the hot flashes and other symptoms. Plus, eating right (think calcium, vitamin D), exercising, and even reducing stress can help your body adapt.

And remember, don’t be shy to talk to your doctor if things get tough.
